CHS celebrates Volunteers' Week 2022

At Children's Hearings Scotland, we are celebrating Volunteers Week 2022 (1 June – 7 June) by recognising the outstanding attributes of our 3,000 national volunteers.

Our volunteers' commitment to keeping infants, children and young people at the heart of every decision is evident in their dedication to upholding CHS values by being challenging, child-centred, creative respectful, open and fair.

We will be celebrating their role and contribution to Scotland's hearing systems throughout the week. Across the CHS Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, we will be sharing volunteer stories to help others better understand why they volunteer and what it means to them.

To mark the occasion, Clare Haughey MSP, Minister for Children and Young People, said:

"Volunteers' Week is a time to celebrate the truly outstanding contribution volunteers make to Scottish society. In particular, my thanks go to the volunteers at Children's Hearings Scotland.

"Each of you play a unique and critical role, one that is committed to advocating for children's rights and putting their voice at the centre of every decision taken at CHS.

"Thank you for making a massive difference within your local communities, and I look forward to continuing working together."

National Convener at Children's Hearings Scotland, Elliot Jackson, said:

"As National Convener of the largest tribunal in Scotland, reliant on over 3000 volunteers, I wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to each of our volunteers for going above and beyond for Scotland's infants, children and young people. Our lay tribunal members make some of the most important decisions in public life today.

"Volunteers Week is a time to focus on how important volunteers are in every walk of life, but at CHS, we make a conscious effort to celebrate our volunteers all year round to show our appreciation for all they do."
