Could you be a Panel Member? We're seeking volunteers in six regions
Children’s Hearings Scotland has launched a fresh recruitment campaign for volunteers across six of our nine Scottish regions, running until 24 February.
The campaign is part of our capacity-building work as we prepare for the implementation of the Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Act 2024, expected in early 2026.
This campaign is targeted to specific regions where we want to boost our Panel Member capacity: North Strathclyde; Ayrshire; Central; Highland, Moray & Eilean Siar; Lanarkshire, Dumfries & Galloway; and Tayside & Fife.
Please note we will be inviting applicants in all areas later in 2025.

Hugely rewarding role
Three Panel Members take part in each children's hearing, which can be held in person or virtually, and they make legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people. They are there to ensure that the young person is at the heart of every decision taken.
We offer a comprehensive training package that will equip you with the skills and knowledge to fulfil this important role.
'Being a Panel Member is without a doubt one of the most fulfilling roles anybody can have!'
– Jihad, Panel Member, Tayside
