New Area Conveners appointed
Children’s Hearings Scotland has appointed Lorraine Currie as Area Convener in Tayside. Lorraine took up the role on 25th October.
Lorraine has a background in legal practice and policy development, and extensive experience in leadership, change management and collaborating with partners.
Lorraine said, "I am delighted to be appointed to lead the Tayside Area Support Team. Children and young people in Tayside deserve the very best from the hearings system, and that means making sure that the people who make decisions about them have the best support. I am looking forward to working with the team and the whole CHS community to keep The Promise."
The organisation has also appointed Andrew Reeves as Area Convener in Eilean Siar. Andrew previously held the role of Panel Practice Advisor, and took on the interim Area Convener position in September.
Andrew adds, “I am delighted to be appointed at such an exciting time. We have such an active community and I will do my utmost to ensure that we continue to work towards keeping The Promise. I am passionate about children’s rights and making sure these are upheld nationally and am looking forward to taking on this local leadership role.”
This month, we have also made two interim Area Convener appointments: Sharon Angell in Glasgow, and Carol Chalmers covering South East Scotland. Both Carol and Sharon have extensive experience of volunteering with Children’s Hearings Scotland.
The Area Convener is a crucial volunteer role that provides leadership and support to our local panel community.
Elliot Jackson, National Convener added, “I’m delighted to make these new appointments. Each brings a wealth of experience to the role. They will be key in shaping, supporting and delivering national reform at a local level, helping us to keep The Promise and continue to place children and young people at the heart of everything we do.”
