Scottish Government's response to Hearings for Children report

Children’s Hearings Scotland welcomes the Scottish Government’s response to the Hearings for Children report of the Hearings System Working Group.

"We welcome the Scottish Government’s acceptance of the vast majority of the recommendations of the Hearings for Children report, which were based on needs identified by people with lived experience of the hearings system and those who deliver services.

"We believe the implementation of the accepted recommendations will help to keep the Promise by 2030.”

– Elliot Jackson, National Convener and Chief Executive of Children’s Hearings Scotland

Further collaboration

For recommendations that have been accepted with conditions, or require further consultation or exploration, CHS will work with the Scottish Government and our partner organisations to find solutions that support our highest priority: improved outcomes for children and young people.

For recommendations that have not been accepted, we will continue to work collaboratively with our partners to consider all options to ensure high quality children’s hearings can be delivered now and in the future.

CHS particularly welcomes the recognition of the invaluable work of Panel Members, both through the decisions of the report and in the accompanying remarks by the Minister for Children, Young People and Keeping the Promise.
